National Evaluation of Weed and Seed

June 1999
Weed and Seed programs are designed to address violent crime, drug trafficking, and drug-related crime to produce a safer living environment in specific target areas. The National Evaluation of Weed and Seed examines the results of and local opinion about Weed and Seed programs in eight areas of the United States. Sites were evaluated on their implementation of and measurable effects of Weed and Seed strategies. Discussed in this Research in Brief are links between law enforcement agencies and community involvement in the Weed and Seed process, as well as the various impacts on crime trends and policy.
