Tractor Trailer Operator – Exam 240
Position: Tractor-Trailer Operator

Operates heavy-duty tractor trailers either in over-the-road service, city shuttle service, or trailer spotting operations.

The position may include irregular hours.

Job Requirements
  1. Must have at least two years of driving experience, with at least one year of full-time experience (or equivalent) driving at least a 7-ton capacity truck or 16-passenger bus. At least 6 months of the truck driving experience must be with tractor-trailers. The driving must have taken place in the United States or its possessions or territories, or in U.S. military installations worldwide.
  2. Safe driving record required
  3. At the time of appointment, you must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License from the state in which you live, with air brakes certification, for the type(s) of vehicle(s) used on the job.

Applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the U. S. Postal Service’s Employment Requirements. Applicants must also be a U. S. citizen or have lawful permanent resident alien status.

  2. The assessment questionnaire that is completed online or by phone asks for specific information concerning an applicant’s driving history and safety record. Prior to completing this questionnaire, applicants are given the opportunity to request (or if online, print), an assessment worksheet (pdf) (rtf) to help them prepare for the questionnaire.
  3. You must receive a passing score of 70 on the assessment to receive further employment consideration.
  4. If you are determined to be eligible, you will continue the process for employment consideration.
