Key Activities
Remittance Mail Advisory Committee
The Remittance Mail Advisory Committee (RMAC) provides the Postal Service with strategic recommendations on how to improve its products and services through a partnership with the remittance industry. The committee’s work answered the question: “How can the U.S. Postal Service and the Bill and Remittance Industry improve business and operational alignment?”

This committee represents a broad cross-section of stakeholders in the remittance industry including major players in banking, telecommunications, insurance, and remittance mail processors. It also includes the top trade association and performance research firm, Phoenix-Hecht.

As a direct result of this group’s recommendations, the Postal Service is implementing actions to increase its communication efforts through internal correspondence, industry articles, and regular meetings with industry representatives. In addition, many of the suggestions and ideas for new products, services, and operational improvements are being evaluated by the Postal Service for future consideration.

Remittance Review Meetings
The RMAC recommendations resulted in the establishment of strategic business reviews. These Remittance Review meetings provide an excellent forum for the industry to share ideas and concerns as well as gain a better understanding of the internal processes and constraints of the USPS. The Postal Service is committed to these strategic reviews, strengthening our partnership with the industry, and pursuing innovative products and services to meet this important segment’s needs. Remittance Mail Councils
Many districts and plants have established Remittance Mail Councils (RMCs) comprised of local banks, financial institutions, billers, remittance processors and postal representatives that meet on a regular basis to discuss concerns, share information, and exchange ideas.

RMCs are a key component of the Postal Service’s national remittance site certification program for mail processing facilities that handle significant remittance mail volumes. This program is designed to standardize remittance operations and establish an optimum baseline for our major remittance cities to achieve.
