Regulatory Information (Reginfo.gov)

GSA's Regulatory Information Service Center and the Office of Management and Budget's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) have established the Reginfo.gov website to assist users who want to find federal regulatory information.  The site makes available to the public substantial information about three separate, but related, governmentwide activites:

  • Federal regulatory agendas and regulatory plans include brief synopses and timetables for action on rules that federal departments and agencies are considering.
  • Rules under review by OIRA prior to initial publication or final adoption are listed.  Prior to incorporating this information into Reginfo.gov in 2005, much of the information was unavailable to the public.
  • OIRA reviews of information collections such as forms and surveys, under the Paperwork Reduction Act, are listed, together with a complete inventory of currently approved information collections.

Reginfo.gov gives the public searchable access to this information to make more transparent the work of OIRA and federal agencies in rulemaking and information collection activities.  Additional links connect to legislation, the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, information about rulemakings affecting small businesses and federal forms.  The site also contains "The Reg Map," a chart that shows how regulations are adopted.
