Audio News Release: Forever Stamp Soundbites

Postal Service Consumer Advocate Delores Killette talks about the Forever Stamp and other ways to save money in connection with new prices effective May 12. Five soundbites follow:

Soundbite One — how to save on Express Mail and Priority Mail

  • For the first time ever, the Postal Service is offering savings for Express Mail, Priority Mail and other shipping services. The more you mail, the more you can save. But everyone can save simply by going online to usps.com. These changes to Postal Service pricing make Postal Service products more attractive to all shippers, especially small businesses.

Soundbite Two — new Express Mail zone-based pricing

  • Overnight delivery just got cheaper for nearby destinations. With new zone-based pricing, Express Mail prices for small packages, five pounds and lighter, are lower than any Postal Service competitor for shorter destinations.

Soundbite Three — online savings for Priority Mail and Express Mail

  • Customers can save on Priority Mail and Express Mail simply by going online to usps.com. The amount of savings depends on the number of packages you mail and if you use electronic postage, such as Click-N-Ship.

Soundbite Four — the Forever Stamp is a bargain

  • The Forever Stamp is a great bargain because — as the name suggests — the stamp is good forever. Buy it today and use it any time in the future for a one-ounce letter mailing. No additional postage is needed no matter how prices change in the future. Just look for the stamp with the Liberty Bell image.

Soundbite Five — the popularity of the Forever Stamp

  • The Forever Stamp has been very popular with our customers. Since we first introduced them a year ago, more than six billion Forever Stamps have been sold. It's no surprise why these stamps are so popular — they deliver convenience and value, forever.
