1998 Annual Report on Methamphetamine Use Among Arrestees

April 1999
The 1998 Annual Report on Methamphetamine Use Among Arrestees summarizes trends in methamphetamine use among arrestees from cities participating in the Arrestee Drug Abuse Monitoring Program (ADAM). The booklet tracks male and female use by region, age, and race. Data show that use is skewed sharply toward the West and Northwest regions and that use is most common among whites and females. Several of the 13 new sites added to the ADAM database in 1998 showed the highest incidence of methamphetamine use among offenders; however, findings also indicate that methamphetamine use varies sharply, with 7 sites reporting no arrestees who tested positive.
