A vast amount of what is accomplished by ACNM is due to the volunteer efforts of CNMs and CMs across the country who contribute their expertise, energy, time, and perspective to the work of these groups. The brief description of each committee which follows is for information and to encourage participation in an area that suits individual CNM/CM interests and talents. All Hazards Preparedness Committee The All Hazards Preparedness Committee was formed to address the unrecognized needs of mothers, infants, and young families during disasters, and coordinate efforts to meet these needs. We recognize disasters when we see them -- but that is too late to begin planning health care interventions. Chair: Robbie Prepas, CNM JD
Archives Committee
The Archives Committee maintains and preserves material of historical significance to the College for reference by members, midwifery students, and individual researchers approved by the Board. Co-chairs: Kathleen E. Powderly & Lisa Veach
Bylaws Committee The Bylaws Committee facilitates the work of the ACNM and maintains congruence with the Bylaws of the College by review of: College Standing Rules of Procedure, Chapter Standing Rules of Procedure, proposed bylaw amendments, and other documents as requested by the ACNM Board of Directors. Chair: Jan Kriebs
Government Affairs Committee
The Government Affairs Committee develops economic policies, to serve as a forum for policy coordination from the divisions and develop strategies to carry out the implementation of political and economic policies related to midwifery practice and women's health. In addition, the Government Affairs Committee will coordinate the mobilization of grassroots efforts of the membership and to implement appropriate strategies through political action. International Health Committee
The International Health Committee promotes awareness and provides information on international maternal and child health issues for ACNM members. Chair: Barbara Anderson
Midwives of Color Committee
The Midwives of Color Committee recruits and retains persons of diverse ethnic/cultural backgrounds to the profession of midwifery, provides educational preparation to the ACNM membership which will develop respect for cultural variations, and increases awareness and responsiveness among the ACNM membership to maternal-child health care issues affecting people of color. Chair: Bridget Howard
Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee insures the conduct of legal and proper nominations of officers and other elective positions designated by the Bylaws. Chair:Suzan Ulrich
Program Committee
The Program Committee plans and coordinates the program for the Annual Meeting of the College. Chair: Kate Fouquier
Student Committee
The Student Committee develops programs designed to improve student participation in activities of the College. Chair: Angela Wilson-Liverman
Uniformed Services Committee
The Uniformed Service Committee recruits and retains members of all commissioned corps (Army, Navy, Air Force, and Public Health Service) to ACNM, provides representation for the needs of midwives working in federal facilities to the college, and increases awareness among the ACNM membership of the unique issues concerning uniformed services members.
