About the Journal BACK TO TOP
Stay at the field's leading edge with this unique blend of clinical content, policy issues, and current research in Agromedicine!

The Journal of Agromedicine: practice, policy, and research focuses on translational research that aids the rural health care provider, as well as public health practitioners and those involved in health and safety issues. And with its status as the official journal of the North American Agromedicine Consortium, you can be doubly confident that the journal will continue to deliver insightful, well-researched articles with great practical value.

Published in an 8.25” x 10.75” format, the peer-reviewed Journal of Agromedicine—indexed by MEDLINE (National Library of Medicine)—fills the information gap between journals devoted to the health and agricultural sciences. You’ll find new scientific research, case reports, literature reviews, conference proceedings, examinations of new technology, discussions of policy issues, and clinical case reviews.

“Our goal is to reflect the essential role of agriculture in our society by addressing the impact of the rapid evolution of a traditionally rural industry to a global industrialized model,” said editor Steven Kirkhorn, MD, MPH, FACOEM. “Our aim is to provide a comprehensive, peer-reviewed source of information addressing the impact of these changes upon the health and safety of the agricultural workforce, rural communities, and consumers of agricultural products.”

The Journal of Agromedicine examines evolving trends in emerging biotechnology and the globalization of agriculture, and the resulting political/economic effects of these trends upon the agricultural workforce and rural communities. Topics of special interest examined in the journal include:
  • occupational health and safety issues in agriculture
  • zoonotic and emerging diseases
  • food safety
  • health education strategies
  • public health
