PAHO Urges Southern Hemisphere to Remain Alert for Influenza A(H1N1)

May 5, 2009—While the vast majority of confirmed cases of influenza A(H1N1) have been in the Northern Hemisphere, a top Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) expert today cautioned that Southern Hemisphere countries should remain on high alert, as their winter season is just now beginning.

Emergency Operations Center Update on Influenza A(H1N1) May 7

May 7, 2009. The flu season is rapidly approaching in the Southern hemisphere, and countries must and are already implementing pandemic preparedness plans.  This and other topics were covered at a press briefing today. Caribbean disaster managers –inside and outside the health sector – used webconferencing tools to discuss the current situation.
