Resources for Adult Educators

Collage of students, Quick Civics Lessons, and the Civics Flash Cards

Promoting instruction and training on citizenship rights and responsibilities and providing immigrants with information and tools necessary to successfully integrate into American civic culture are significant priorities for USCIS and the Office of Citizenship. Through the development of materials and resources for permanent residents to use as study tools and educators to use in the classroom, USCIS seeks to strengthen citizenship and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs that help prepare immigrants for naturalization.

In response to requests for a single destination housing educational resources for citizenship and civics instruction, USCIS and the Office of Citizenship developed a web-based tool entitled, U.S. Civics and Citizenship Online: Resource Center for Instructors.

Designed specifically for instructors, tutors, and program administrators, this unique tool provides adult educators and volunteers with a single source for information and educational resources needed to incorporate civics into ESL instruction and to prepare adult students for naturalization.
