John Grissom, Acting Chief Administrative Appeals Office

Mr. Grissom began his government career in 1978 as an Immigration Inspector with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. He served as a Supervisory Immigration Inspector in the Honolulu District prior to being promoted to Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer in the New Orleans District in 1986.

From 1991 to 2000 he served as an adjudications officer in the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO), and then served as the Deputy Director of the AAO until November 2008.

Since November 2008, he has been the Acting Chief of the Administrative Appeals Office.

Mr. Grissom holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Texas.
