In November 2008, Gregory L. Collett was appointed Chief of the USCIS Transformation Coordination Office.  In this capacity, Mr. Collett will guide agency-wide transformation efforts that will modernize USCIS processes, leading to improved operational efficiency, enhanced customer service, and strengthened national security.   

His 20-year immigration career has afforded him diverse and rich experiences in numerous capacities, which culminated in his last appointment as District Director of the Baltimore District Office for nearly two years.   Beginning with legacy INS in 1989, Mr. Collett worked in the Baltimore District Office’s Asylum Branch.  In the following years, he held several field office positions, including Examiner and Inspector, and worked on a range of adjudications portfolios. 

Transferring to Headquarters in 1995, Mr. Collett leveraged his experience to develop and improve policies and procedures, including those related to civil fingerprint processes and FBI name-checks, while also serving as the Agency’s liaison to the Federal Bureau of Investigations Criminal Justice Information Services Division.  Additionally, he worked on technical policy and process issues with the Office of Congressional Affairs for two years before joining the Office of Field Operations Fingerprint Unit in 1997.  Prior to becoming District Director for the Baltimore District, Mr. Collett, as Branch Chief for the Application Support Centers (ASCs), led the team responsible for operating over 134 ASCs and 54 Designated Law Enforcement Agencies across the country. 

A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Mr. Collett graduated from Towson University in 1989, and holds a bachelors degree in English.
