Policy for Purchase of Renewables

Western Area Power Administration adopted a policy in 1996 on the treatment of non-hydropower renewable resources.

The policy defines Western's objectives and role with regard to non-hydropower renewable resource. The policy calls for Western to facilitate the voluntary use of renewable resources by wholesale customers, and provide technical assistance and marketing information to customers and renewable energy developers.

The primary objective of the program is to assure Western's power customers have the best information available to assist them in making decisions regarding renewable resources.
