USAID Applauds Privatization of KESH Distribution System

TIRANA, March 11, 2009   USAID applauds the recent privatization of the KESH distribution system.  It will introduce, at long last, modern management practices that will improve energy services for all Albanians while attracting much-needed capital investment to the country’s energy sector.

A more available and reliable supply of electricity to businesses, moreover, will promote economic growth and private investment, even in this period of global economic uncertainty.

USAID was pleased to work with the Albanian Government and with other international financial institutions in helping to ensure that this privatization was carried off successfully and efficiently.
