Strategic Plan

On February 8, 2006, the Corporation for National and Community Service released its Strategic Plan for 2006-2010. The plan, which benefited from extensive public input, is a blueprint for increasing the effectiveness of the Corporation’s programs and operations, and for defining the unique role that national service can play in building a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility in America.

The plan identities five “focus areas” where the Corporation intends to significantly ramp up its efforts in the next five years:

Each focus area includes specific targets at both the national and Corporation levels, and each requires the Corporation’s programs to work together to achieve these important objectives.

Other elements of the plan include:

Said Corporation CEO David Eisner: “By setting priorities and providing a focus for the future, the plan helps our thousands of grantees, sponsors, and stakeholders plan for the future while also giving them the flexibility to respond to local needs in a local manner.”

Reaching Our Goals: Research in Support of the Strategic Initiatives

The Corporation is consistently releasing new research on volunteering and national service across the country. Reaching Our Goals synthesizes many of the key findings from the agency’s studies so that leaders in service can quickly and easily access a wide array of research findings specifically related to each of our strategic goals. This document is regularly updated to reflect the most current data available.
