Xcel Energy proposes to build a new transmission line and associated substations from White Substation (southeast of White, S.D.) to Buffalo Ridge Substation (southeast of Lake Benton, Minn.). The project consists of approximately 28 miles of 115-kV and 0.4 miles of 345-kV transmission lines. It includes a new 115-kV/345-kV Brookings County Substation to be located near White Substation and interconnected to it. The proposed Yankee Substation would be located in Lincoln County Minnesota, midway along the 115-kV line. Approximately 10 miles of the proposed transmission line route will be in South Dakota with approximately 18 miles in Minnesota. Project updates:
