Photo - Detail

VISTA members Elsie Chee Nez (left) and Saraphina M. Nez (right) are Navajo sisters who were assigned to an arts and crafts co-op in Chinle, Arizona, in 1971. They worked with 200 people--mostly women--in the Canyon de Chelly-Black Mesa area. Here they visit a Canyon de Chelly hogan where a co-op woman weaves a rug for the Philadelphia auction.
