ARB CASE NO. 00-062
(Formerly ARB Case No. 99-107) ALJ CASE NO. 99-STA-21
DATE: FEB 21, 2001
In the Matter of:
RONALD C. STAUFFER,
COMPLAINANT,
v.
WALMART STORES, INC.,
RESPONDENT.
BEFORE: THE ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW BOARD
ORDER DENYING MOTION FOR AN ENLARGEMENT OF TIME
TO SOLICIT AMICUS BRIEFS
On August 17, 2000, the Administrative Review Board received a motion from Complainant Ronald C. Stauffer's former attorney, Paul Taylor, Esq., seeking leave to file an amicus brief in this case. The Board denied Taylor's motion in an Order issued December 4, 2000. However, given the unusual circumstances of this case, in the same Order we authorized each party to file a brief exclusively responsive to the opening briefs, to be postmarked no later than January 3, 2001.
Complainant Ronald C. Stauffer did not file a brief as permitted, but instead filed a motion requesting an enlargement of 60 days to solicit amicus briefs. We DENY Stauffer's motion. Stauffer's request that the Board grant him an enlargement of 60 days to solicit amicus briefs exceeds the limited scope of our order permitting the parties to file briefs exclusively responsive to the opening briefs. Accordingly, the briefing in this case is now closed, and no further briefs will be accepted unless ordered by the Board.
