CEO Technology Update

Dear National Service Colleagues,

I am writing today to provide a technology update and to once again thank you for your continued patience. I continue to receive daily, and in some cases hourly, updates on potential solutions to these challenges, as well as how these ongoing issues are impacting the work you do. We are working to mitigate the problems you are facing, identifying work-arounds where possible and providing information where no interim fix is available. Still, I know this process continues to be difficult.

We have made progress on some long term and permanent solutions. After aggressive testing we plan to implement 36 fixes to our systems by the middle of next week (the week of March 24), including important upgrades that will help both grantees and applicants better use the recruitment tools. The important enhancements reconnect member applications and program listings with program users, lengthen text boxes for applicants and references, and address odd character inclusion in project descriptions. A short planned system outage is required for implementing this release and will be scheduled during off-peak hours. Please stay tuned for more details.

In addition to these fixes, staff are continuing to make progress on developing Release 3.0 of the My AmeriCorps Portal including new recruitment and WBRS functionality. As soon as we have a schedule for this release, we will let you know. WBRS will continue to be available until at least September 30, 2008.

Again, thank you for your perseverance and understanding during this challenging time.

Yours in Service,

David Eisner
Chief Executive Officer
Corporation for National and Community Service
