The Introduction to Section 106 is a new ACHP one-day course designed to introduce participants to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its review requirements for federal project planning.

What will you learn in the Introduction to Section 106?  Introduction to Section 106 provides an overview of the process while emphasizing key terms and concepts.  This course uses a combination of small group activities and lecture to acquaint those new to Section 106 with the fundamentals they need to understand when Section106 applies, who participates, what information is required, and how reviews are concluded.

Who should attend?   The course is geared toward those individuals who are new to Section 106 and those who have a supervisory relationship with practitioners of Section 106.  Federal, state, or local government officials, tribal or Native Hawaiian representatives, or private consultants who encounter preservation-related law in their jobs, and members of the public with an interest in historic preservation will find the course beneficial.
