      Census Bureau Releases 1997 Population Estimates for
                Puerto Rico's County Equivalents
                                
  The Commerce Department's Census Bureau today released population
estimates for Puerto Rico and its 78 municipios (equivalent to U.S.
counties) as of July 1, 1997. The data also include percentage change in
the population from 1990 to 1997 and the number of births and deaths for
the same period for each municipio. 

  The title of the Internet table is: 

  -  PR-97-1 Estimates of the Population of Puerto Rico Municipios, July
     1, 1997 and Demographic Components of Population Change: April 1,
     1990 to July 1,1997 (includes revised April 1, 1990 census population
     counts). The Internet address is
