Trademark & Service Mark Exhibitors Descriptions

Burberry Ltd.

Burberry is a global luxury brand company involved in the design, manufacture, advertising, distribution and sale of high quality clothing, handbags and accessories. Since 1920, Burberry has used in connection with its products a plaid design, known as the “Burberry Check”. Burberry owns several federal trademark registrations for the Burberry Check design for a variety of products, including clothing, accessories, scarves, handbags, travel bags, wallets, pet accessories, golf accessories and umbrellas. Burberry’s exhibit will highlight its Burberry Check design trademark. Representatives from Burberry will be available to discuss the history of the company, the use of the Burberry Check as a trademark, counterfeiting, and Burberry’s anti-counterfeiting efforts.

Callaway Golf Company

Callaway Golf is a returning exhibitor at the Trademark Expo 2009, following up a successful appearance at last year’s Expo. The company’s exhibit will incorporate an interactive putting green display for the public to practice with and try out some of their products. At the same time, Callaway Golf Company will use samples and videos to display its product lines as compared to counterfeit goods, thereby educating the public about its major anti-counterfeiting efforts, especially against online auction sites. The exhibit will display the company’s intellectual property portfolio, which includes both trademarks and patents that protect features and components of their golf clubs, and other products.

CMG Worldwide, Inc.

CMG Worldwide, Inc. is an agency dedicated to building and licensing brands derived from living and deceased celebrity entertainers, movie stars, and sports legends, and trademarks such as I?NY. CMG represents over 200 celebrities including Marilyn Monroe, Babe Ruth, Marlon Brando, Natalie Wood, Bette Davis, Jackie Robinson and James Dean. CMG’s booth will focus on the development of comprehensive global trademark strategies, the importance of securing trademark registrations, strategic branding, licensing, policing trademarks on a world-wide basis, the right of publicity, and intellectual property laws and trends.

Galaxy Systems, Inc.

Galaxy Systems owns a trademark registration for Biz Wiz for an online game in which players can learn about the different types of intellectual property, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets. Attendees at the Expo will have the opportunity to use one of several laptops at Galaxy Systems’ booth to play the game and learn more about all of the ways in which intellectual property can be protected.

Bigsby Division, Fred Gretsch Enterprises, Ltd.

In 2008, guitar and drum company Gretsch Company celebrated its 125th anniversary. The company and its division, The Bigsby Company, are the owners of a number of registrations for configuration marks for guitar tailpieces and for the shape of a guitar, as well as for the name Bigsby. In keeping with the anti-counterfeiting sub-theme of the Expo, a representative from the company will exhibit authentic and counterfeit tailpieces, and will explain the value of the company’s trademark registrations in protecting the company’s unique products.

The Hershey Company

The marks owned by Hershey Chocolate & Confectionary Corporation and used by the Hershey Company are some of the most loved trademarks in American culture. Hershey’s will use its booth, costumed characters and the Hershey’s Kissmobile Cruiser to highlight the different types of trademarks that may be protected, including surnames, product configurations and colors.

Internet Keep Safe Coalition

The Internet Keep Safe Coalition, a worldwide organization, is a broad partnership of governors and/or first spouses, attorneys general, public health and educational professionals, law enforcement, and industry leaders working together to teach children the safe and healthy use of technology and the Internet. The Internet Keep Safe Coalition’s booth will feature information about the integral role trademark law plays in allowing them to develop and maintain their brand and brand promise. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity meet the company’s mascot, Faux Paw the Techno Cat, and play an interactive video game that teaches children about navigating through the Internet safely.

International Trademark Association

The International Trademark Association (INTA) will emphasize its role in assisting in protecting trademarks in the global economy and will provide general information and materials concerning INTA. The exhibit will include a small anti-counterfeit exhibit.

The Pepsom Group, Inc.

Pepsom has created a national brand, Pepsom Sports, of the age-old remedy, Epsom salt, used by millions as a soaking aid for relief of aches and pain. As an innovative company, Pepsom recognized the importance of registering its trademarks to build brand loyalty on a national level. In addition to Pepsom Sports, Pepsom has sought registration for its slogans such as The Original Sports Soak, The New Generation of Epsom Salt, Pepsom Get Some and product line extensions such as, Pepsom Salt and The Epsom With Pep.

The Travelers Companies, Inc.

The Travelers booth will demonstrate the history and evolution of trademarks. The red umbrella is believed to have first appeared in a Travelers advertisement in 1870 and was formalized as the company’s trademark in 1959. The booth will display Travelers advertisements, both print and TV, across the years. We will also be returning with our interactive umbrella wall, which using state-of-the-art computer software, enables the umbrella display to respond to movement.

United Parcel Service

In 2003, UPS® launched a major rebranding initiative that included a new logo. UPS is recognized as a global company that provides transportation and logistics services. UPS’s booth will include a graphic wall that showcases its trademarks, such as the color brown and the bubble-nosed truck. There will also be handouts and signs that provide information about brand infringements, UPS’s brand history and trademark facts. Branded merchandise will be given away to those who visit the booth and participate in a trademark quiz.

United States Air Force

The United States Air Force Band’s brass quintet will provide music at the opening ceremony as well as on both days of the National Trademark Expo. Since its formation in 1941, the Air Force Band has played superb music for music lovers around the globe, earning its reputation as “America's International Musical Ambassadors.” The Air Force will showcase three of its federally registered trademarks, including the official Air Force crest, which is comprised of a star with highly stylized wings extended as in flight. The Air Force booth will feature a display case with sample products, distribute an educational brochure and provide giveaways promoting the Air Force and its trademarks.

United States Department of Energy

Participation by the U.S. Department of Energy in the Trademark Expo 2009 will highlight the public’s growing concern over energy usage and efficiency. The Department of Energy provides various programs to assist others with the development of innovative energy technologies as they apply to the community, whether it applies to residential use, residential construction practices and the like. The exhibit will feature information about these programs that concentrate on innovative building technologies that reduce energy usage, and discuss the importance of the registered trademarks that identify such services. In particular, the exhibit will emphasize the function and purpose of certification marks in commerce.

Urangatang Web Design, LLC

Urangatang Web Design, LLC is a woman-owned small business certified by the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPOE)/Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and the Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) with the State of Tennessee. Through seeking trademark registrations, the company has recognized the value and importance of protecting its corporate identity. The company’s focus is on website design, development and programming. Its exhibit will concentrate on the trademarks that identify their specialized services and will serve as a venue to provide the public with educational tips on web design and content management.
