Patuxent Research Refuge staff and volunteers welcomed over 1,000 visitors to the National Wildlife Visitor Center on Sat. March 14th to celebrate the 106th Anniversary of the National Wildlife Refuge System. Special guest, Billy B. -- the Environmental Song and Dance Man - rocked the house with two musical performances. The Friends of Patuxent sponsored the ever popular Crane Café, where visitors could purchase light snacks. Other fun activities included: exploring a wetland inside the Schoolyard Habitat, creating fun critters with children's crafts and taking a conservation tram tour through wildlife habitats. The Birthday celebration started early when staff and volunteers were featured during a live FOX5 News broadcast Wed. March 11th. To watch Patuxent on TV, please visit:
