Elementary school students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo Elmwood Village Charter School satellite location in Buffalo, NY learned how to conduct stream sampling during a field trip hosted by the Lower Great Lakes Fishery Resources Office.  Biological Technicians Denise Clay, Eric Snyder, and Vanessa Pereira guided eighteen students through fish and invertebrate sampling and identification and stream habitat sampling. The 2-hour field trip to Ellicott Creek in Amherst, NY provided students with a unique opportunity to experience nature first hand.  Collected critters were brought back to the school where fifty younger students (K-3) were encouraged to look for and observe fish, crayfish, and other invertebrates collected from the stream.
