The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Hosts Wildlife Management in Houston Toad Habitat Workshop
Southwest Region, December 8, 2008
Print Friendly Version

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department held a wildlife management workshop for private landowners living in Houston toad habitat.  This workshop was held December 8, 2008, at the Lower Colorado River Authority’s McKinney Roughs Nature Center in Bastrop County, Texas. Approximately 100 individuals attended the event that provided up-to-date information on the ecology and status of the federally listed Houston toad, information on technical resources, available Federal and State landowner incentive programs, and habitat management practices aimed at generating support for Houston toad recovery.  Also featured were presentations on the Lost Pines Habitat Conservation Plan, Houston toad headstarting efforts, and the Houston toad safe harbor program.
