Woodland Dunes Nature Center is mixture of marshland, swamps, sandy fields and meadows, and wooded ridges located between Manitowoc and Two Rivers, Wisconsin.  In addition to these existing habitat areas, Woodland Dunes has recently purchased adjacent agricultural property.  A portion of this newly acquired land contained drained wetland habitat.  Through this Partners project these wetland areas were restored using techniques including herbicide treatment of invasive vegetation, the plugging of drainage ditches, and construction of a wetland scrape.  The site, which is surrounded by 40 acres of prairie grassland habitat established as part of a previous Partners for Fish and Wildlife project, will provide excellent habitat for shorebirds and sedge meadow songbird species.
