Journal Entry   Back Connecting People with Nature - 2nd Annual Guys Mills Heritage Fest is a Success Northeast Region, June 28, 2008 Print Friendly Version Erie National Wildlife Refuge, in partnership with several non-profit organizations in the town of Guys Mills sponsored the 2nd annual Guys Mills Heritage Festival in June of this year.   The refuge, with the help of our Friends, sponsored several nature craft activities, interpretive hands-on activities, bird walks, tree identification walks, stream ecology mini-field trips, bald eagle presentations, live animals, and a nature scavenger hunt.  Throughout the town, the special festival featured a variety of activities and items for all ages:   kite-building and flying, steam engines, antique cars, heavy equipment, a children's carnival, fire trucks, Smokey Bear, and a puppet show.   Though the rains came, so did the people; nearly 300 people participated in the event.
