Wayne Talo guides students through dissecting Lake trout at the Water Watch event

The 13th Annual Water Watch Student Congress, a workshop on Great Lakes water uses and issue, was held in Traverse City, Michigan on May 16th. Jordan National Fish Hatchery (NFH) along with 20 other agencies and organizations put together the event. Sixty-two students from grades six through twelve came from three schools in the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District. Classes run for one hour and twenty minutes and are presented in the morning and afternoon.  This year, Roger Gordon and Wayne Talo teamed up to provide a brief overview of fish physiology and fish anatomy.  The students really enjoyed the fish dissection overseen by "legendary" Jordan River NFH Fish Biologist Wayne Talo.
