On July 28, 2007, staff and volunteers from the Lower Great Lakes Fishery Resources Office (LGLFRO) participated in the 5th Annual Round Goby Round-Up. The objective of the event was to determine if round goby are present in the canal from Clarkson, NY to the Montezuma NWR in Seneca Falls, NY.

Volunteer anglers fished for five hours at eight sites along the canal, and received round goby information and WATCH cards.  Following the morning of fishing, the Friends of the LGLFRO sponsored afternoon refreshments for the volunteers.  One goby was caught at the Sans Souci Canal Park in Clarkson, NY.  Last year's Round Goby Round-Up resulted in the confirmation of goby as far east as Brockport, NY.
