CCP Meeting Warwick, NY 03/06/08 M.Durfee

On March 6, 2008, Wallkill River NWR hosted its third Comprehensive Conservation Plan meeting in the town hall of Warwick, New York.  The meeting was a partnership effort between the Service, Warwick Township and Congressman John Hall. Refuge Manager Edward Henry gave a presentation on the CCP and land expasnion, while Complex Manager Bill Koch moderated the publc comment section of the meeting. The meeting was attended by more than 70 people, 30 of which voiced their comments.  Among the attendees was the Regional Director the NYSDEC, a state Senator, township officials and a Congressional aide. Many comments were focused on drainage issues and concerns of local farmers, especially concerning eminent domain. The meeting resulted in 4 local newspaper articles and helped to further educate the public about the Service and CCP.
