The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation hosted the third annual Oklahoma Wildlife Expo September 28-30 at the Lazy E Arena just north of Oklahoma City. The Expo is a free educational and interactive event that provides more than 200 booths and “hands on” activities like shooting sports, kayaking, ATV riding, fishing, archery, rock climbing, wild game tasting, and the list goes on and on.

The Expo is the largest indoor and outdoor recreational event in the state’s history and this year it was designated as part of the official State of Oklahoma Centennial. Oklahoma country music star, avid sportsmen, and Expo spokesperson Blake Shelton was also on hand for the event and even played a few of his songs for the crowd. The Expo is intended to promote and develop appreciation for Oklahoma’s wildlife and natural resources.

Several Oklahoma refuges participated in the event setting up an outdoor “hands on” booth where youngsters could learn how to identify animal tracks, scat, and build bird feeders. The wildlife expo was attended by an estimated 40,000 visitors according to the wildlife department.
