Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge held an invasive plant species identification workshop, September 297.

Chris Evans from the River to River Cooperative Weed Management Area conducted this workshop at the Visitor Center.

This program was open to any interested individuals.  Many refuge volunteers attended this program in hopes to help monitor Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge's 44,000 acres.

Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge is currently controlling the spread of autumn olive, teasel, and garlic mustard.

These are just a few of the species that were discussed at the workshop.  The instructor presented a slide show about the invasive plants then workshop participants hiked a trail for a hands on experience.
