The Coast is Clear- Cleanup at Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge
Northeast Region, September 15, 2007
Print Friendly Version
On September 15, 2007, concerned citizens and U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service employees joined forces to remove marine debris from the three quarter-mile shoreline of Target Rock National Wildlife Refuge, a unit in the Long Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex.

Forty volunteers participated in the Target Rock NWR effort, part of the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup (ICC).  In addition to gathering 706 pounds of debris ranging from plastic beverage bottles to a set of stairs, volunteers recorded data that will be represented in the ICC's overall results.  Press coverage included an article in the Long-Islander on September 13, 2007.
