Pendills Creek/Sullivan Creek NFH Complex received the award for commitment to the environment and outstanding leadership in the area of recycling and waste/pollution prevention.

The hatchery complex annually has 120,000 gallons of fish waste slurry pumped out of two collection basins and then land applied as fertilizer for farming.

The Pendills Creek NFH also utilizes a water filtration system to remove silt and debris from the hatchery water supply thus cleaning it up before it is used over production fish and before it enters Lake Superior eliminating several tons of sediment yearly.

This award is a traveling trophy and will be displayed at the receiving facility for one year.
