The Lower Great Lakes Fisheries Resource Office held a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) workshop in collaboration with Pennsylvania Sea Grant, Gloucester Fisheries Resource Office, and Chesapeake Bay Field Office in Philadelphia, Penn. on May 24 and 25, 2007.  Fourteen people attended the workshop held at the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge. Participants represented private consulting firms and local water department employees.  Due to the applicability of HACCP to a wide range of projects, the curriculum was well received by the consulting industry people in attendance.  As with other HACCP workshops, participants had the opportunity to begin developing their own HACCP plans in the class.  One participant even developed a two page technical note to distribute to peers about HACCP and to help spread the word about the importance of its use.
