Journal Entry   Back Feral Hog Study Continues At Laguna Atascosa NWR Southwest Region, May 31, 2007 Print Friendly Version During the month of May, 2007, the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, Texas A&M University – Kingsville feral hog study continued at Laguna Atascosa NWR.  Researchers trapped, sampled, and removed 64 feral hogs from the Laguna Atascosa Unit of the refuge and 8 feral hogs from the La Selva Verde Unit of Lower Rio Grande Valley NWR, which is managed by Laguna Atascosa NWR.  This trapping effort is being conducted for a study on the potential for avian influenza transmission in feral hogs.  Contact Info: Martin Valdez, 505-248-6599, martin_valdez@fws.gov Send to: From: Notes: ..........................................................................................
