Journal Entry   Back Meeting with Western Farmers Electric Cooperative on Powerline Right-of-Way Southwest Region, May 23, 2007 Print Friendly Version Western Farmers Electric Cooperative maintains a power transmission line that crosses 1.5 miles of Little River NWR.  WRS Weaver met with Kent Fletcher, Environmental Specialist with Western Farmers Electric Cooperative, Brandon Houck, Regional Wildlife Biologist with the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF), Donald Chitwood, Regional Director of the Oklahoma NWTF, Mike Evans, President of the Oklahoma NWTF, and Jack Waymire, Technical Representative from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation on May 23, 2007 to discuss how the utility company could integrate wildlife management activities along the powerline right-of-way.  Everyone was in agreement that Western Farmers Electric Cooperative was providing quality wildlife habitat along the powerline right-of-way.  The NWTF has a program called, Energy for Wildlife, which assist utility companies in the management of right-of-ways for the benefit of wildlife.  Western Farmers Electric Cooperative was interested in working with the NWTF in the management of the right-of-way to provide beneficial habitat for wildlife.
