Arlington Field Office assists Northcentral Texas in Regional Transportation Planning
Southwest Region, May 22, 2007
Print Friendly Version

On May 22, 2007, representatives of the Arlington Field Office attended an Environmental Streamlining Roundtable discussion concerning transportation issues in northcentral Texas.  The meeting, sponsored by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), brought together numerous Federal, State, and local agencies to discuss environmental issues associated with a 16 county area surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth, one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the United States.  Discussions centered on the transportation planning process in regard to the new planning directives contained in SAFETEA-LU and how the various governmental entities could effectively link their planning objectives and processes cooperatively to yield more environmental friendly projects.  The Arlington FO is currently working with NCTCOG to incorporate fish and wildlife concerns into their transportation planning process, as well as their other regional planning efforts.
