Kids enjoy learning about birds at Kenai Refuge's recent homeschool event "This One is For the Birds".

Kenai National Wildlife Refuge welcomed 69 participants during their April 11 - 13, 2007 environmental education event developed specifically for home-schooled children.  The theme this year was, "This One is For the Birds."  Pre-school aged children up to 6th graders participated with parents in completing workbooks, enjoying displays, and interacting with Refuge staff.  Birds are a great environmental education topic for all ages.  They are readily observed, play an important role in nature, and have diverse life history strategies.   For more information on environmental education programs at Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, call (907) 262-7021.
