Richard Cronin National Salmon Station Celebrates Earth Day at Local School
Northeast Region, April 9, 2007
Print Friendly Version
Staff from the Richard Cronin National Salmon Station in Sunderland, Mass. participated in an Earth Day Celebration at Sheffield Elementary School in Turner's Falls, Mass. The educational program "Buyer Beware" was presented, focusing on the issue of import and exportation of wildlife and animal products, including endangered species.  Staff also discussed protected species in the local area including Atlantic salmon, mussels and reptiles. The Office of Law Enforcement provided the education kit with examples of confiscated wildlife products to show the students.  The full day program received much praise from teachers and students, who learned important information about the risks and harm of purchasing wildlife products.
