The annual Volunteer Recognition Picnic was held at Squaw Creek NWR, October 14, to recognize and thank all of the individuals that contributed their time during the past 12 months. 

All volunteers were invited with 18 attending the event. 

Certificates and pins were awarded to participants and Nate Peterson was selected as the refuge volunteer of the year.  Nate worked from May through August in the biological program assisting in research studies and on a variety of wildlife projects. 

He contributed 491 hours with a value of more than $8,000.  He was a tireless worker and enthusiastic about every project he was assigned.
