Environmental Education Field Day at Squaw Creek NWR

An environmental field day was held at Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge, October 6, with 75 students from the Falls City, Nebraska, Middle School. 

Students rotated from six stations with presenters discussing management topic themes such as endangered species, grasslands, wetlands, bird  migration and various other habitats. 

Park Ranger Marshall discussed endangered species, ROS Kudrna talked about bird migration, Refuge Manager Bell told students about marsh management and wetland plants and Office Assistant Broker covered wetland wildlife. 

Jim Pierson, Missouri Department of Conservation, presented information about the ecology of grasslands and prairie.  Stations utilized were the new Outdoor Classroom, the Loess Hill and Callow Trail, the Eagle Overlook and the Eagle Pool water control structure.
