Aransas National Wildlife Refuge Offers Interpretive Van Tours and Lecture Series

Interpretive van tours are scheduled for each Saturday and Sunday from January through April 2007. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about the National Wildlife Refuge System and Aransas NWRC history and natural history with emphasis on wildlife, habitats and management. The 2-hour tour offer visitors a good chance of seeing white-tailed deer, alligator, javelina, armadillo, wild turkey, wading birds, ducks, geese and endangered whooping cranes. Reservations are required as seating is limited. Visitors may call the Refuge at 361-286-3559 for reservations and more information. Other than a nominal entrance fee, there is no additional fee for the tour.

2007 Aransas Lecture Series programs are listed below. Programs begin at 12:00 noon in the Refuge Visitor Center Auditorium.

January 20 - Whooping Cranes

February 24 - Indigenous Peoples of Coastal Texas

March 17 - Birding 101

April 7 - Wildflower Walk
