Salmon Fry Stocking of the Narraguagas River
Northeast Region, May 5, 2006
Print Friendly Version
Poor ocean survival and other environmental problems have depressed wild population of Atlantic salmon in the Narraguagus River to the point of  them listing under the Endangered Species Act. In support of the recovery goals of the Atlantic Salmon Recovery Plan, Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery holds river specific Atlantic salmon broodstock for the Narraguagus River and produces eggs and fry for stocking . This year Craig Brook Hatchery liberated 486,807 river specific fry in the Narraguagus River from April 21 to May 5 2006. All six stocking trips were coordinated and implemented with the Maine Atlantic Salmon Commission.
