Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery's Debbie Jones and Jenny Walker joined to assist event staff at the 6th Annual Protectors of the Earth Youth Camp.

The camp is a one-week program, held this year at Bay Mills Community College and the surrounding area, for students in grades 8-10 seeking education, careers, and leadership roles in conservation and natural resource management.

The camp is sponsored by American Indian tribes in Michigan, Bay Mills Community College, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and private and non-profit organizations and businesses.

This year, students and staff of the camp visited Pendills Creek NFH. The staff from Pendills Creek guided tours and provided information on lake trout culture and restoration, fielded questions, and discussed strategies for pursuing a career in conservation and natural resources.

Pendills Creek staff were pleased and excited to receive certificates of appreciation and T-shirts with the Protectors of the Earth emblem and for the opportunity to interact with an enthusiastic staff and truly wonderful students.
