 Steady breezes kept peregrine kites aloft at the well attended 5^th annual bird festival sponsored by community organizations and Tetlin Refuge.  The day began with exciting sightings of a great grey owl, peregrine falcon, and northern hawk owl on the Adult and the Parent/Child bird watching tours along the Alaska Highway.  Activities in Tok Memorial Park kicked off with the debut appearance of the Tetlin "Blue Goose".  From late morning to early afternoon families enjoyed kite flying, a wildlife survey computer simulation activity, “The Wheel of Birds” game, face painting, and storytelling.  Across the street at the community visitor center, a live Northern Goshawk captured the audience’s attention as they learned about this boreal forest bird of prey.  On display were the local entries from the Junior Duck Stamp Contest and plans for the future Tok Interagency Alaska Public Information Center.  Later in the day, the community of Tok turned out in record numbers for the performance of “All God’s Critters”, an original musical play on boreal forest animals performed by K-8 students.  Many local organizations contributed to a fun filled day from beginning to end!
