Interagency Coordination Meeting on Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation

On February 16, 2006, the New Mexico Ecological Service Field Office, Fish and Wildlife Service hosted an interagency coordination endangered species meeting.  Attendees included the Forest Service Regional Office, New Mexico State Lands Office, Bureau of Land Management State and Field Offices, New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, and New Mexico Natural Heritage Program.  Discussion topics included: the Service’s focal species strategy for migratory birds, sensitive species surveys and information, oil and gas development as it relates to four endangered invertebrates on Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge, spikedace and loach minnow information, New Mexico recovery planning for the bald eagle, and the aplomado falcon 10(j) rule.  The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss and answer questions concerning 5-year status reviews, Bureau of Land Management candidate conservation efforts, and the upcoming biennial review of State-listed species.
