The Fish and Wildlife Service meets with the Public Service Company of New Mexico to discuss Conservation of Endangered Fish
Southwest Region, November 22, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The New Mexico Ecological Services Field Office, San Juan River Basin Recovery Implementation Program (Program),  met with the Bureau of Reclamation and Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) to discuss a long term maintenance agreement.  Terms and conditions were discussed for fish passage on the San Juan River.  Construction of the PNM fish passage structure was funded by the Program in 2002 to allow native fish to move upstream of the PNM diversion dam located near Fruitland, New Mexico.  The PNM has offered to take over the maintenance of the selective fish passage facility as part of their commitment to the success of the Program.  The meeting resulted in the exchange of information regarding PNM's infrastructure and their needs and how that might interface with the biology of two endangered fish, the razorback sucker and  Colorado pikeminnow.
