Parque Ecologico Chipinque Meeting
Southwest Region, October 24, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The Director of Parque Ecológico Chipinque visited Santa Ana NWR and met with the South Texas Refuge Complex Project Leader (Ken Merritt) and the Corpus Christi Ecological Service Field Office Biologist (Ernesto Reyes) to discuss possible fire training that the Service could provide in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.  Santa Ana NWR and Chipinque Park have an MOU to assist in promoting each other’s refuge/park as birding destinations.  The Director also gave a presentation at a meeting with the World Birding Committee.  The park is interested in being an international satellite center and hopes the committee board members will recommend Chipinque Park to be part of the World Birding Centers.  This will help promote birding and ecotourism in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.  Mr. Reyes served as translator for the Director during his visit.
