Seminars at the Senator George J. Mitchell Center, University of Maine at Orono.
Northeast Region, October 14, 2005
Print Friendly Version
The Senator George J. Mitchell Center for Environmental and Watershed Research is sponsoring seminars on natural resource management conflicts.  The center is trying to foster communication among agencies and has been requesting speakers from various entities.  Refuge Manager Bill Kolodnicki was the speaker on October 14th and he examined conflicts between refuge managers and researchers.  The many laws and regulations that contribute to misunderstandings between individuals working toward the same goal were exam by looking at the roseate tern project at Falkner Island Unit, Stewart B. McKinney NWR.  One solution suggested was to establish a liaison who would help the busy scientists obtain permits and work with the manager as a liaison.
